The Vasai Vikasini Bhavan has been developed on this land, and soon, two more buildings will be constructed to facilitate courses and activities in the field of visual arts. In addition to the subsidized and government-approved courses, business-oriented courses in other branches of art such as the Diploma in Applied Art (three years), Diploma in Interior Design Decoration (three years), Digital Photography, and Animation are offered. These courses are receiving a good response from students, and the number of students has been steadily increasing over the past few years. The institute has been impartially providing knowledge of art for the last 35 years. Nineteen students from Vasai Vikasini College of Visual Art (from various courses) have achieved the honorable distinction of ranking first in the state, and many others have made it to the merit list. Additionally, many students and teachers have received state and national awards. The organization publishes an annual art special issue called ‘Chitrakantha’ every year.
In addition to this, every year, grand art exhibitions of students’ annual class work, as well as children’s art competitions, state-level landscape painting, sand sculpture, and portrait painting competitions, ‘Rangdhara’ – an annual get-together, educational excursions, seminars on art, and lectures and demonstrations by famous painters, are conducted for the students. CIDCO has approved the construction of an Administrative Building and three other buildings for conducting various courses. The Administrative Building is already completed, housing the Vasai Vikasini Trust and Visual Arts College. The first floor is allocated to the Peter Pereira Art Gallery and Museum. Construction for the other three buildings is yet to begin. Separate residential hostels for boys and girls, playgrounds, and a landscape garden are also planned.
Established in 1985, Vasai Vikasini aims to encourage local art lovers and artists by imparting art knowledge and creating a collection of historical objects. The organization has been offering subsidized courses in visual arts along with business-oriented courses. The institute has been successfully promoting art education for 35 years, producing top-ranking students and receiving awards. They also publish an annual art special issue and organize various art exhibitions, competitions, seminars, and educational excursions for students.
