Diploma in Art Education

The Diploma in Art Education course is primarily designed to meet the needs of art teachers, equipping them to teach art in collegiate institutions, including higher art institutions. It also provides them with sufficient knowledge to supervise the teaching of other collegiate teachers, should they be promoted to supervisory positions in these institutions.

Regarding the teaching of practical art subjects, the main emphasis will be on methods of teaching these subjects in collegiate institutions, including higher art institutions. Therefore, project work involving teaching practice and experimentation has been included in the coursework as a compulsory part of the examination pattern.

Objective: 

  • To ensure the student is thoroughly grounded in the theory and practice of the subject matter and other necessary aspects of art.
  • To equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching the subjects in an integrated manner to students of collegiate institutions, including higher art institutions.
  • To make them conversant with modern methods of teaching art in collegiate institutions, including higher art institutions, and familiar with experiments conducted in art institutions in India and abroad.
  • To provide teaching experience under expert guidance through internships in collegiate institutions, including higher art institutions.

Theory Subject:         

1. Psychological Foundations of Education

2. Methods of Instruction and Evaluation procedure

3. Special Methods of Teaching Art

4. Philosophical and Sociological Organization

 Practical Subject:

 4. Simple composition in painting or relief Sculpture or Print making organization of figures and forms in a given space. Expression of specific moods and emotions.

 5. Still life / Poster Design

 Rendering of a group of subjects in pencil, charcoal, ink and or colour, simple poster design.

 Note : The candidate will have to select any any subject from the syllabus of either higher secondary standards of Foundation Diploma Course or specialised courses in the various branches of Higher Art and prepare a teaching programme, with reference to the existing conditions, objectives, improved methods, results of experimentation done by him / her in his respect and suggestions for improvement of teaching, et. A neatly written and illustrated brochure will have to be submitted one month before the final examination for assessment. This will be the second part of the Il paper of the practical examination, carrying, 50 marks and the student pass in this part

 1. 10 Lessons in Secondary of Higher Secondary Schools

 2. Internship for 9 days (i.e. 45 hours) in Higher Art institutions (3 weeks - 3days

 3. Consecutively in one weeks)

Upon completion of the Art Teachers Diploma, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of art history and contemporary art practices.
  • Create and implement effective art lesson plans and curriculam.
  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies tailored to different learning styles and needs.
  • Utilize various artistic techniques to inspire and engage students.
  • Assess and critique student artworks constructively and supportively.
  • Exhibit professionalism and continuous development in the field of art education.

Eligibility Criteria : Diploma in Art Education

G.D. Art pass or BFA pass

Course Portfolio
